Here is the partially machined top cap.  I had a pice of aluminum in the pile and used that, but the next time I would do a lost foam casting and machine from there.  The odd looking reliefs and the tabs shown were machined by chucking the part in an eight inch indexer I have.  The part was them clamped on the 12 rotary table and the excess was machined away.  The leg bolt holes were reamed for a good fit on the pivot bolts.

Here is the first test fit of the parts.
