View inside the RA Base with the motor and worm assemble removed.  The motor/worm bracket and spacer is still mounted in the housing.  For those of you who will attack me for not having any grease on my drive gear, this image was taken during the chip removal and cleaning process reassembly and the grease is the next thing to be installed!  Note the little set screw to the left of the right hand bracket securing screw, this set screw controls the free play in the RA Worm and Driven gear.  It is supposed to be "loctited" during the manufacturing process but there have been reports of many coming loose and causing slop in the RA axis.  Look here for instructions to cure the RA Slop.

The LX50 RA Motor and worm gear assembly mounted on the bracket and spacer (removed from the RA Housing).  There are two motor assemblies in existence,

The 1K motor (newer scopes of the last 1 1/2 to 2 years)

The 500K motor (Earlier scopes)

Bearing mounting on the top side of the RA housing.  This view shows the different sizes of the bearings.  Note the casting defects in the top of the bearing mounting, this does not appear  to have any effect of the strength of the assembly, though it sure looks ugly!
