Home Up Battery Box LED Lighting Canon Battery Eliminator

I don't know how many people have found out the hard way, but the RadioShack.Com stores are closing.  These stores, which I don't know how many of them there are, used to be called TechAmerica.  We have one here in Mesa AZ and most of the part #s mentioned in my page are the 900 series Radio Shack parts which will not be available soon.  I am going to convert the numbers over to regular Radio Shack numbers ASAP.  Anything not available from Radio Shack I will source to Digi-Key numbers.  If you can't find something let me know via E-mail.

One annoying thing about the DEC motor cable is the way it sticks out and gets tangled in other cables and catches the fork arm at low angles.  I found these adapters at RadioShack.com the other day.  While I did not find the right angle plugs I was looking for I did find these that work almost as well.
Here's a side shot of my intermediate stage of finding a better routing for the DEC encoder cable.  Plans are to reverse the wiring of the encoder and place it into the RH fork arm reducing the amount of wiring and number of connectors needed for hook up.  The current placement of the encoder cable keeps it from catching on other items.  This shot was taken before the right angle plugs were installed.
When I was inside the drive base I noticed that the fuse holder contacts were extremely close to the bracket that the RA drive assembly is mounted on.  My concerns about the chance of temperature closing this gap prompted me to "adjust" the fuse terminals a little bit.  I removed the fuse and taking a light pair of pliers bent the top contacts in this view up just a little bit.  I then bent the lower set a similar amount, making sure the tension on the fuse was correct.

Here is the fixed fuse holder.

On the RA slop page I show how to set the clearance in the RA drive.  This procedure can be done can be done by removing the control panel but any variance in reinstallation could cause the contacts to short and you can't check for the clearance without removing the bottom plate and leaving the control panel in place.

I have had a number of people inquire about the triple cigarette lighter socket.  I  getting this information for them I decided to post it here for others.

Lighter Adapter in Online catalog.

I am always trying to make LED lights and illuminators and have found two very suitable LEDs that you might be interested in.  They are 5mm diameter and are very bright as well as quite diffused.  There are two numbers listed here.  RadioShack.Com is the source. They are both equally bright, one is just a bit more concentrated in the pattern department.

900-6115 slightly focused  (Google search this internal part number:  MSB51TA-5)

900-8700 very diffused. I have not been able to pedigree this LED outside of the RadioShack.Com stores, apparently is was custom made for them.  (The internal part number is SL905RCU)
